Golden Tone Piano Service was established in 2014 by (they/he) Krishna Swami while attending the North Bennet Street School (NBSS) Piano Technology program. Krishna became a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) in 2014 after passing 3 rigorous exams from the Piano Technician’s Guild (PTG), before also passing their exams to complete the NBSS program. They went on to work for the Interlochen Music Festival in the summer of 2014, and attended the second year Advanced Piano Technology program, graduating with two certificates in Piano Technology in 2015 and an internship with the Harvard University Piano Technology Department. Kris then began working at the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals, and has been their primary technician since 2016, as well as various recording studios, piano dealerships, churches, universities, and now over 600 private clients.

Krishna (Kris) uses the techniques learned at the NBSS program to provide quality service from the moment they pull up to your home or venue, to leaving your piano better than they found it as they drive away after service. Kris uses traditional aural tuning techniques in combination with industry-leading technology that allows them to perform their work with accuracy and efficiency.

Kris grew up playing piano on and off from age 4, mostly classical study with some jazz in their later teen years. They continue to make music when they have free time and loves to encourage others to learn to make their music to share or for their own therapeutic and neurological benefits in pianists of all ages and skill levels.

Kris believes that music is the very essence of human expression and is closely connected to our spiritual nature. This is why Kris approaches their detailed craftsmanship with love and care, and also compassion for their client’s specific needs. Listening is the most important part of this work, and Kris intends to listen to you as closely as they will listen to the piano.

Kris feels that becoming a piano technician was the best way to be a part of the arts through humble service and a part of the magic of the piano as the ultimate musical instrument with truly limitless possibilities.

"I love being a part of this creative realm of vibrations and sounds when I tune, as well as the satisfaction that comes with work well done when I hear the piano play and feel it perform the way that it should. The piano itself inspires me, and I hope that my work passes on that inspiration to my clients and reconnects them to this magic that is music, which is at the core of our very humanity." - Krishna Swami

Angie's List Super Service Award 2016 Piano Tuning Service

Golden Tone Piano Service Earns Esteemed 2016 Angie’s List Super Service Award

Award reflects company’s consistently high level of customer service

Golden Tone Piano Service has earned the home service industry’s coveted Angie’s List Super Service Award, reflecting an exemplary year of customer service to members of the local services marketplace and consumer review site in 2016.

This achievement is particularly significant as Angie’s List experienced unprecedented member growth in 2016. More than 1.6 million consumers, many of whom were eager to quickly hire highly qualified service pros, joined Angie’s List after the company added a new, free membership tier.

“Companies that can meet higher demands without missing a beat in their exemplary performance standards truly do stand apart from their peers,” said Angie’s List Founder Angie Hicks. “Only a fraction of the piano service companies in the Providence and Boston markets were able to do it.”

Angie’s List Super Service Award 2016 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, which include an “A” rating in overall grade, recent grade, and review period grade. The SSA winners must also be in good standing with Angie’s List, pass a background check and abide by Angie’s List operational guidelines.

“Angie’s List has been the perfect partner for Golden Tone Piano Service to help spread the word about the quality of service that my company has to offer. I am thrilled to have earned this award after a year of many administrative improvements, and a higher call volume than in years past. Angie’s List has helped many clients get connected with my company to save their pianos, which makes it possible to share more music in the lives of those who enjoy this amazing instrument.”

Krishna Swami, Owner, Golden Tone Piano Service

Service company ratings are updated daily on Angie’s List as new, verified consumer reviews are submitted. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality.

For more than 21 years, Angie’s List restricted access to its verified reviews to consumers who paid membership fees. When the company removed that barrier, some companies worried that the new, non-paying members would not be as engaged as members of the past. Experience has shown, however, that these newly added members are just as engaged – across all age groups – as prior members. Also, because the company continues to adhere to its review verification process, there has been no degradation of review quality.

“The biggest change at Angie’s List is that we are connecting even more consumers to high quality service professionals,” Hicks said. “And that’s good for everyone.”
